8000 Metres
Experience the beauty, harshness and danger of the worlds biggest mountains from the comfort of your own armchair.
In 2005 Alan Hinkes became the first Briton to climb all 14 peaks over 8000 metres. This autobiographical work, beautifully illustrated with his own photography documents his many expeditions that made him a frequent visitor to Nepal, Pakistan and Tibet.
Alan approached these high altitude mountains in a lightweight Alpine style facing the nail-biting dangers of avalanches, extreme cold and the Death Zone with minimal equipment and a steady hand on the camera!
